Collecting at the airport

You land, you walk into arrivals, someone is holding your name, and you drive away. That is the whole process.

The difference

Nobody puts you on a bus

The part of airport car hire that ruins arrivals is rarely the paperwork. It is the shuttle — finding the right stop, waiting for a minibus, riding to an industrial estate, then queuing at a desk. An hour gone, with luggage, usually with tired children.

We meet you in the arrivals hall at Malta International Airport. The car is at the airport. There is no transfer, because there is nowhere to transfer to.

What to expect

How collection works

We track the flight

Give us the flight number when you book. We watch it. If you land two hours late, we know before you do and we are still there — no phone call needed from the aircraft.

08:00 to 02:00, every day

Weekends and public holidays included, all year. That covers almost every scheduled arrival into Malta, and there is no out-of-hours surcharge anywhere inside that window.

Someone with your name

You come through into the arrivals hall and we are there with your name. No desk to find, no queue behind six other companies, no ticket number.

We walk the car together

We photograph the car with you before you take it, and again when it comes back. It takes a minute and it is why disagreements about a scratch end quickly.

Full tank, noted with you

You get it full and return it full. Any shortfall is charged at pump price plus a €10 refuelling fee — no inflated per-litre rate, no pre-paid tank you cannot use up.

Nothing charged online

You pay at collection. The deposit is pre-authorised on the card then — held by your bank, not taken by us.

Before you fly

What to have with you

  • Your driving licence, held at least two years. If it is not in the Latin alphabet, bring an International Driving Permit alongside it — not instead of it.
  • Passport or ID card for the main driver.
  • The right card. Without Zero Risk Protection the deposit needs a credit card in the main driver's name, Mastercard or Visa. With it, a debit or credit card is fine — still Mastercard or Visa, still in the driver's name. This catches more people out than anything else. The full rule, and every deposit by class.
  • Your flight number, on the booking. It is the difference between us waiting and us wondering.

Drivers must be between 21 and 75. Under 25 there is a young-driver fee of €8 a day, shown in your total before you confirm — not added at the desk.

If something goes wrong on the day

  • Delayed flight — nothing to do. We are tracking it.
  • Diverted or cancelled — call or message +356 9905 6366 when you can. It is a Maltese number answered by someone on the island, not a call centre.
  • Landing after 02:00 — tell us when you book and we will arrange it. It is outside our normal window, so it needs agreeing rather than assuming.
  • Someone else is driving — they must be named on the agreement and present their own licence. An additional driver is €5 a day. The deposit card must belong to the main driver, so decide who that is before you arrive.
Ten minutes to our base. If you would rather collect away from the airport, our yard in Ħal Qormi is about ten minutes away and open the same hours. Some people prefer it on the return leg — drop the car, then take a taxi to departures at your own pace. Both locations.

Giving the car back

The return is the reverse and quicker: meet at the airport, we walk the car together, we check the fuel, and the deposit hold is released as soon as it is checked in. Your bank then takes its own few days — usually a handful, up to about seven working days.

Allow fifteen minutes on top of your usual airport timing. It rarely takes that long, but it is a bad morning to be optimistic.

Questions

Airport collection, answered

Where exactly do we meet?

In the arrivals hall at Malta International Airport, once you are through. We will be holding your name. There is no shuttle bus and no off-site depot.

What if my flight is delayed?

Give us the flight number when you book and we track it. If you land late we already know and we are still there — no need to call from the plane.

Is there an out-of-hours or airport surcharge?

No. We are at the airport from 08:00 to 02:00 every day of the year, weekends and public holidays included, with no surcharge inside that window. Arrivals outside it can be arranged when you book.

What do I need to bring?

A driving licence held at least two years, passport or ID, and a card in the main driver's name for the deposit. Without Zero Risk Protection that card must be a credit card, Mastercard or Visa; with it, debit or credit is fine.

How long does it take?

Usually ten to fifteen minutes from meeting to driving away, including walking round the car together and photographing it.

Can I return the car somewhere else?

Yes — the airport, our Ħal Qormi base, or the Mġarr ferry terminal in Gozo. Tell us when you book so it is noted on the agreement.

Do you deliver to my hotel?

No. We hand over at the airport, at Ħal Qormi, or at the Mġarr ferry terminal on Gozo — not at hotels or private addresses.

Straight off the plane

Tell us your flight and your dates.

We will be in arrivals when you land — whenever that turns out to be.
