Monthly car hire
For a long winter, a work posting, a move, or the months between selling one car and buying the next.
Priced by the day, however long you keep it
There is no separate monthly tariff to decode. A long booking is priced at the same daily rate as a short one, so a month is simply thirty days of it — €660 for a Toyota Aygo, €750 for an Opel Corsa, €930 for a Citroën C3 Aircross. The booking form will quote the exact figure for your dates before you commit to anything.
Bookings run up to 90 days online. For longer than that, or for a fleet of several cars, call us on +356 9905 6366 — that is a conversation rather than a form.
What changes, and what does not
Cover works the same
Collision damage waiver, theft protection and third-party cover are included, exactly as on a three-day hire. Zero Risk Protection is €12 a day if you want the excess gone.
One deposit, held once
The deposit is pre-authorised at pick-up and held for the length of the booking — not re-taken monthly. What is held, by class.
Servicing is ours
If the car is due a service during your booking, we handle it and give you something else to drive while it happens. You are not managing maintenance.
Breakdowns are ours too
Roadside assistance is included across Malta and Gozo for the whole booking. One number, and it reaches someone on the island.
Free to cancel
Nothing is charged when you book, and cancelling is free up to 48 hours before pick-up. A long booking does not tie you down before it starts.
The same fleet
All seventeen classes are available by the month, electric included. Nothing is held back for short hires.
Which one you actually want
Long-stay hire and leasing get confused because both mean “a car for months”. They are different products and the right one depends entirely on how long you are staying.
- Up to about three months — hire. No credit agreement, no commitment beyond the booking, insurance and servicing included, and you can hand it back early. This is what we do.
- A year or more — lease. Cheaper per month, but it is a contract with a credit check, a fixed term, an early-termination cost, and usually insurance to arrange yourself.
If you are here for a season, hire is almost always the right answer. If you are moving to Malta permanently, talk to a leasing company — we will tell you so rather than sell you eleven months of daily rate.
Who this suits
- Winter stays. November to March in Malta is mild, quiet and much cheaper than summer. A car makes the difference between seeing the island and seeing your neighbourhood.
- Remote workers. Malta's nomad permit brings people for months at a time. A month-by-month car with no contract fits that better than a lease.
- Between cars. Sold yours, waiting on a delivery, or the family car is in for a long repair.
- Work postings and projects. Named additional drivers at €5 a day mean a team can share one vehicle properly.
Practicalities over a long stay
- Fuel is like-for-like. We record the level with you at pick-up and you return it the same. Any shortfall is charged at the pump price plus a €10 refuelling fee.
- Traffic fines reach us as the registered owner and are passed on with the related administration — so pay a Valletta charge or a parking ticket promptly rather than letting it come round the long way. How parking and the Valletta charge work.
- Mileage is not capped. Malta is 27 km long; nobody needs a limit here.
- Swapping the car. If the size stops suiting you halfway through, tell us. Changing class mid-booking is usually possible and is priced from the day it changes.
Long stays, answered
Is there a discount for a month?
The online price is the daily rate multiplied by the days, and that is what the form will quote you. For several months, or several cars, call us — a long commitment is worth quoting properly and we would rather do that than have you pay the online rate by default.
What is the longest I can book online?
Ninety days. Beyond that, phone us on +356 9905 6366 and we will arrange it directly.
Do I need to be resident in Malta?
No. The same requirements apply as for any hire: minimum age 21, maximum 75, a full licence held for at least two years, and photo identification.
Is the deposit taken every month?
No. It is pre-authorised once at pick-up and held for the booking. If your card expires mid-booking, tell us and we will re-take it on the new one.
What happens if it needs a service?
We arrange it and provide a replacement car while it is in. Servicing, tyres and wear are ours to deal with, not yours.
Can I return the car early?
Yes. Tell us and bring it back; you are charged for the days you had it. Cancelling before it starts is free up to 48 hours before pick-up.
Price a month.
Put your dates in and the quote covers the whole period — deposit, cover and total, before you commit.
